Case description:

A customer contacted us to diagnose for his 4TB Western Digital 2.5”- WD40NDZW-11A8JS1 portable hard drive. The Western Digital hard drive was used for data storage, it has a lot of working files and photos, videos. This hard disk stopped working last week, while he is uploading the data into his NAS, PC failed to detect the hard disk. He tried to check on the disk management, it still can recognize the hard disk, but it doesn’t show up in the windows. He tried reconnecting for a few times and the computer managed to detect the drives, but the name of the Western Digital drive is not showing, it is only “Local Disk D” shown, and when he tried to open the drives, the computer will hang. He has 10-year worth of data in the hard drive.

Action (Solution):

Singapore EHDR’s data recovery specialist proceeded with the diagnosis. Our recovery specialist checked through the hard drive and found that the health condition of the hard disk has deteriorated. The data recovery was successful, and we manage to recover the data from the hard drive. The total data was about 3.0TB plus, so we transferred the recovered data to a new 4TB external hard drive for him. He checked the data and happy with the result of the recovery, all the excel formulas are still linked and working.
