Asus Laptop (SSD)

ASUS laptop UX430U - SSD

Case description:

A customer contacts us to diagnose her ASUS laptop UX430U, the laptop has stopped working since last week. When she tried to power on the laptop, it will stuck at the ASUS BIOS utility screen. On the ASUS BIOS utility screen, it shows that the Solid-State Drive (SSD) is not detected, when she tried to exit from the BIOS utility screen, it will black out and the laptop would restart and goes to the ASUS BIOS utility screen again. This laptop was used for more than 3 years and this is the first time having issues. It contains a lot of her work data and she does not have a backup of the data.

Action (Solution):

EHDR’s data recovery specialist checked through the laptop, it is working fine, but there is an issue with the SSD. Our recovery specialist took it out to checked and there’s no physical damage or crack on the chip, the health condition of the NAND Flash Chip deteriorated and there are numerous of errors and warnings. The SSD is still physically working, but the memory chips degraded and affects the data on the SSD. Data recovery for the SSD is still possible and we estimated the success rate should be very high for the SSD. After the confirmation, we proceed with the recovery. Based on the condition of the SSD, chip-off data recovery is not necessary.

The Outcome

Data recovery was successful, we managed to recover the data from the SSD and she checked the data and manage to find the work files she is looking for.
