Asustor – AS6104T Data Recovery
Asustor – AS6104T Failed to Access
Initial Cause of Data Loss
A customer contacted us to recover data from their Asustor – AS6104T NAS, 4x 2TB - Western Digital wd20efrx-68euzn0. The NAS failed and was unable to access the data from the NAS. IT checked and able to access the Asustor NAS interface, it shows all four hard disks are working well and no issue found, but when trying to access the data, unable to access. IT tried to restart the Asustor NAS, and it is still the same, but this time it shows that the volume is not accessible. The NAS was used at a construction site, and it has a lot of upcoming project data that they need submit urgently.
NAS/ HDD Drives Recovery
EHDR’s data recovery specialist proceeds to diagnose all the Western Digital hard disks and confirmed that hard disk 1 and hard disk 4 failed and stopped working while the other two are still working. Overall condition of the hard disks is still good, no screeching or clicking sound from the two faulty hard disks. The NAS was setup with RAID 5, it stopped working after more than 1 hard disk failed. Data recovery will be possible, after the confirmation, we proceed with the data recovery. All the drives were cloned, and all the recovery work were done on the cloned drive instead of the original patient drive, this is to avoid any unexpected issue during the recovery and the data will not be affected.
Data Recovery Outcome
The recovery is successful, and he checked the data and confirmed that all the documents, excel, AutoCAD, and emails were recovered, and they are in working condition.
Suggestion
If you have issue accessing data on NAS, server, or even hard disk, it will be better to stop and look for data recovery centre for a diagnostic to avoid further damage to the storage device and causing data loss.
