Case description:

We receive a call from a customer, her MacBook pro A1706 stopped working a few days ago. While our customer working, this laptop blackout all of a sudden. Originally, she thought that the battery level was depleted. Then, she connects her laptop to the power adapter and powers it on again. Unfortunately, it has no response at all. In addition, She waited for another 5 minutes before she tries to power it on again, but it remained the same.

While booting up the laptop, there was neither light, the apple logo nor sound appearing from this MacBook. Subsequently, she sent the MacBook to the service apple center for a check. After the assessment, it shows that the motherboard of this Macbook fails. To reuse this laptop, the customer will need to replace the motherboard. Moreover, all the data will be gone after this service. Since she needs the photos, videos, and other works data from this MacBook,  the laptop is taken back from the Apple service center.

Action (Solution):

First of all, our data recovery specialist checked and verify the MacBook's condition. To sum up, it is confirmed this happened due to the motherboard failure. Short circuits were found on the motherboard too and the internal SSD storage is built-in and sealed on the motherboard,  it is hard to remove the NAND Flash Chip from it.  In general, MacBook Pro A1706 comes with hardware encryption.  During the recovery process, these essential components like CPU, SSD, and security chip are very crucial as they will affect the recovery outcome.
