Problem Description:

Recently, we had received a Samsung 2.5-inch 640GB External Hard Disk from a customer.

According to customer description, one day when she tries to access the data inside the hard disk when she heads a “clicking” sound, and the hard disk information did not prompt out, he had used another computer as well, but the symptom was same, so, he immediately searches the data recovery service and found us.

Action to be taken:

When Ever Higher data recovery specialist first receive this hard disk, he plugs in the hard disk to our data recovery tools, to analysis the issue, our data recovery specialist had found out that the symptom is same as what customer described, so our data recovery specialist suspect that the Read/Write head was faulty, need to perform a replacement of headset.

However, after replacement, when connecting to our data recovery tool, the hard disk still got the “clicking” sound issue, then our data recovery specialist suspect the customer R/W Head was not faulty, there should be another issue causing the “clicking”

After a full search of the internal hard disk component, our data recovery specialist discovers that one of the edges from R/W Head holder had broken, see the picture below.

So, our data recovery specialist found the same holder to replace the faulty one. Now everything runs smoothly. We clone out the customer data to our back up disk and told the customer not to use it again.
