Problem Description:

Recently, we had received a Sony brand 2.5-inch 1TB External Hard Disk from a customer. When we take out the hard disk from the enclosure, found out it is from Samsung.

According to customer description, this external hard disk was not able to detect by the PC, and the customer had tried to access it using different PC but was failed, so he wants to recover his data back.

Action to be taken:

When Ever Higher Data Recovery Specialist first receives this hard disk, he plugs the hard disk into the data recovery tools and performs a diagnostic test. The result shows there had four Read/Write head, but one of Read/Write header was not in good condition, causing the slow response in firmware, thus not able to detect by the PC disk management. The R/W head may fail anytime, we had told the customer the fact and suggest cloning the data out first, during the recovery process, if the R/W head failed, then there is a required to change the headset.

Fortunately, After the cloning process over, we mana to copy out 99% of data out without replacement of R/W head. We double check with data integrity, make sure most of the data is readable, so we can pass the recover data back to the customer.

Outcome:

We manage to recover 99% data back, and the customer was quite satisfied with our service.
