Problem Description:

Recently, we had received a Toshiba 2.5-inch 60GB Portable Hard Disk from a customer.

This is an old portable hard disk, recently there is a clicking sound coming out from the hard disk when the customer connects it to a computer, and the hard disk was undetectable. He immediately searches the data recovery center online and engages our service.

Action to be taken:

Ever Higher Data Recovery Specialist had more than 8 years of experience handling such case. We told the customer not to plug the hard disk into the computer anymore, as it will make the hard disk condition worsen. After we receive the portable hard disk, our data specialist does a check of external enclosure, make sure there is no physical damage to it.

Upon open the enclosure, our recovery specialist took the hard disk and plugs into the recovery tool, from the symptom we confirm Read/Write head was faulty, and there was a scratch sound identified, so our data recovery specialist suspect that the hard disk could be scratch, but he still to needs to go to clean room to check the disk platter condition.

As we can see the picture below, the disk platter was badly scratch, there was no way for us to recover the data.

Outcome:

So we are sorry but to inform our customer the recovery process was failed, from here we suggest our customer once clicking sound identified, try not to plug in anymore to avoid further damage.
