Problem Description:

We had received a Western Digital My Passport 2.5inch 3TB hard External HDD from a customer who was seeking help from our data recovery service.

According to customer description, when he tries to plugs in the external hard disk to the computer using USB cable, the computer cannot recognize the hard disk, he had used a different computer and USB cable, but all failed in the end.

Action to be taken:

According to customer description, Ever Higher data recovery specialist suspects that the ROM at the PCB board was not working properly, as our data recovery specialist had tried using our own computer and disk management was also no response. So, he needs to find a replacement of the PCB board, after a search of our inventory, we had not more of the spare model of such PCB board. So, data recovery specialist needs to add a SATA port on top of the PCB board. So he performs a soldering to combine this two-part together. The final product shows as follows

After joining all the parts, this time when our data recovery specialist connects the hard disk to our data recovery tool, this time, it managed to read all the hard disk information. So our data recovery specialist clones out all the data to our back up disk, as we don’t know how long our customer harddisk can last. After cloned, we transfer the customer data to her another new external hard disk
