Crushing Service
Storage devices are very common among us, and they are parts of our lives. Storage devices such as personal computers, laptops, mobile devices, tablets, thumb drives, and many more. We used it in school, at work, and even in sports. With today’s technology, all storage devices hold our personal information such as photos, videos, company information, bank details, etc.
What is a crushing service? Does it make any difference if compared with degaussing service? Yes, it does. As discussed in our previous blog, Degaussing is a solution to permanently destroy the data on magnetic media such as hard drives, floppy disks, magnetic tape, etc. But crushing does not destroy the magnetic field but applies external force to destroy the storage media. Below are their differences.
Degaussing vs Crushing
Degaussing service is an effective method to destroy all data from electromagnetic storage. If magnetic storage goes through degaussing process, physically, it is still available, but it will become unreadable.
Crushing service is different from degaussing service. Instead of reducing the magnetization of a magnetic storage device to zero, it applied external force to the storage device, which usually ended up shattering.
Which of them is the best way to destroy your data?
It depends on the user. Users can either choose 1 from them or, use both methods to destroy their data. Why? For degaussing, the cost might be higher as compared to crushing. If you are looking for a solution to destroy your data securely, you may apply both methods, degaussing and crushing. Eliminating the magnetic field before piercing the platter, makes it impossible for recovery.
